Hi, it’s about time for a blog post – here’s a quick summary of the weekend, upcoming shows & more…
First – WOW, what a night on Friday, the Simple Life Album Launch Party was buzzing, Drouthy’s was packed! Thank you to everyone who came along and helped to celebrate the new album – you are a delightful bunch 🙂 We enjoyed music from Darren Campbell and Susan McCathie (many comments about your great voice Susan!) – then I had tremendous fun singing an hour of songs to a very appreciative audience. The volume of the audience on “Ode to the Kingsway” took me by surprise . . . maybe a new Dundee anthem in the making.
Special thanks to Graeme, (CD salesman), Kerri (scones/shortie), Ruaraidh (bagpipes!) and our hard-working barman – he was busy all night! Following the success of the evening, I’m planning more musical evenings to follow in the new year, watch this space.
On Saturday I visited the fair city of Perth, belting out songs for over two hours at Greyfriars Bar. The audience changed a few times throughout the night, but I made a few new fans and had a wee taste of “celebrity” – As I was setting up the keyboard, I said hello to the couple at the nearby table, mentioning my name, to which came the immediate reply: “do you have a CD, can I buy one?!” They’d heard all about the Kingsway and Magdalen songs, and were delighted to meet me, buy the CD and hear the songs live… what a wonderful start to the night! Several other people showed great support during the songs, and put a stash of cash in the tip jar as well as buying CDs. Special thanks to Barry for carrying gear!
Tomorrow night (Tuesday 8th Oct) – I’m in Edinburgh playing at the Songwriter’s Cellar. It’s a regular event, hosted by Lach, a New York “Anti-Folk” pioneer now based in Scotland’s capital. There’s a Facebook event for the evening – plus more links below to the other songwriters who will be singing. After listening to songs by Georgia, Abi & Lach, it sounds like it will be a great evening, looking forward to it!
